Skradin – čudesan spoj raznovrsnosti[:en]Skradin – a wondrous blend of diversity

[:HR]Zamislite morske dubine i žubor riječnih brzaca, klapsku pjesmu i mir samostana, plodna polja i uske popločane ulice, volte i skaline gradske jezgre.

Spiridona. Muzej grada Skradina oduševit će vas bogatom i raznovrsnom zbirkom izložaka iz različitih perioda, a Župni dvor vrijednom zbirkom umjetnina i knjižnicom. Domaće delicije, uz bogatu riznicu kulturnog naslijeđa i očaravajuću prirodu, zasigurno su doprinijele tome da Skradin postane omiljena destinacija svjetskog nautičkog jet seta.

I magine the depths of the sea and the murmur of river rapids, Dalmatian folk singing and the peacefulness of the monasteries, fertile land and narrow paved streets, volts and stairs of the town center. Clothe them with a 6000 years old cape, and Skradin is what you get.

You may be wondering how is it possible to have so much diversity successfully joined in a single place – while historians seek reasons for a long survival of Skradin in a favorable geo-strategic position, we have recognized them in the centuries-old soul of this picturesque Mediterranean town. Skradin was already in the 4th century center of the early Christian diocese, and even earlier the capital of the Roman province of Liburnia. At the beginning of the 14th century, during the glorious reign of the Bribir counts, it was the capital of Croatia and Bosnia. The Statute of Skradin is preserved in its original form in the library of St. Mark in Venice.

Remarkable in many respects, Skradin in 1899. had the first hydroelectric power plant in Europe. The remnants of its rich past are many, materialized in the form of valuable buildings: Belvedere and an early medieval fortress of ban Pavle I. Šubić, Baroque Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Orthodox church of St. Spyridon. The Skradin Town Museum will fascinate you with its rich collection of exhibits from different periods, and the Rectory with its valuable library and works of art. Along with the rich culture and captivating nature, these delicacies certainly contribute to its becoming a favorite destination of the nautical jet-set worldwide.
